Ompompanoosuc Forest offers an attractive Vermont timberland property situated between the Town of Vershire’s Eagle Hollow Park and Bear Notch. The property offers a diverse forest resource of oak- and maple-dominated hardwood with excellent site quality. Favorable regeneration on recently harvested acreage and widespread retention of mature timber provide the next owner with a stable investment containing both near-term harvest opportunities and long-term asset appreciation. A current assessment of the timber estimates 3.9 MBF sawtimber and 18.6 cords of growing stock and pulpwood per acre. Expansive interior logging roads and trails enhance recreational use and enjoyment of the property. Numerous streams traverse the property feeding Meadow Brook and the Ompompanoosuc River. Topography is varied, but generally mild, with several interior hilltops. The property is enrolled in Vermont’s Use Value Appraisal tax program with a recent April 2020 update to the forest management plan. A large contiguous forest with no conservation easement makes for an appealing timberland investment. Access is from the north via Corinth along a southerly extension of the South America Road.
